Mill on the Brue 2022
In this very busy final term, we are going to be mainly focusing on Geography, studying how our world is changing. We will be looking at how local areas and other parts of the world have changed physically and in terms of their human geography and asking some big questions such as 'What will our world look like in the future?' and 'How can we look after our world?'
In our other learning we will be looking at the human body during Health Week and exploring our circulatory system. We will find out about the effect of exercise on our heart and do some investigations into this.
In English, we will be continuing the theme of Climate Change by exploring the book 'Floodland' by Marcus Sedgwick. We will be writing newspaper reports based on events in the book and exploring discussion texts regarding environmental matters.
In Maths, year 6 will be continuing their learning on ratio before applying their learning from across the year to investigative projects. Year 5 will be looking at position and direction as well as measures.
In addition to this, we will be working very hard on our performance of The Lion King ready for the end of term. We can't wait to share it with everybody!
Week 1
It has been an exceptionally busy first week back! We had a very joyous first day where we celebrated the Queen's Platinum jubilee, finding out about the Queen's 70 year reign and creating decorations for our lunchtime party. The whole school came together for a photograph commemorating this momentous occasion. Following this, year 6 headed off to Mill on the Brue for their end of year residential trip. It was a fantastic, jam-packed 3 days and we could not have been prouder of our Paxcroft children. We took part in a range of activities from rifle shooting to assault course to high ropes and every single one of the children threw themselves into the activities with such enthusiasm. I was particularly impressed by the support and team work that was demonstrated towards their friends. Well done year 6.
Meanwhile, year 5 were busy on an art project looking at the sculptures of Giacometti and have produced some fantastic designs of their own.
