Week 3
This week has been Art week and we have been focussing on the artist Pablo Picasso. We have looked at the abstract faces he produced using Cubism and have had a go at creating our own versions. In Maths we have been investigating odd and even numbers. I wonder if the children can tell you how they know if it is an odd or even number. In English we have been changing the characters in the rainbow fish story. We have also enjoyed meeting the Year 1/2 teachers and having story time with them
Week 2
This week we have been busy doing Rainbow Fish story maps. We have been learning to use story language when retelling the story. In PE we have started to learn a country dance called the ‘Pat-a-Cake Polka’, we had lots of fun learning this! In our class assembly we talked about the importance of looking after our teeth as it was National Smile Awareness Day. We had lots of fun outside building a house using bricks and material. We worked together as a team and shared our ideas.
Week 1
The children in Reception have had a great start to Term 6. We all enjoyed the Jubilee celebrations on Tuesday. We made shiny crowns and decorated paper plates for the big picnic. We loved eating lunch with our friends and teachers on the field. Our new topic, based around the Seaside, has launched this week. We have been busy helping to set up new role play areas. We have started learning to retell the story of ‘The Rainbow Fish’ using story language and actions.
