This term –

In English we will be focussing on the story ‘Dear Zoo’. We will be using the scheme ‘Talk for writing’ We will start by ‘imitating’ the story. We will learn the text off by heart, draw a story map and retell the story using actions. Next, we will ‘innovate’ the story. We will change the characters of the story from zoo animals to farm animals. Finally, the children will invent their own story. During the term there will be lots of shared and guided writing opportunities to support the children in building up their confidence.

In Mathematics we will be developing our understanding of the numbers 4-8, looking at their composition. We will also be investigating weight, capacity, length and height.

The children will also develop their knowledge of animals, their habitats and babies along with learning about Chinese New Year. They will continue to follow our PSHE scheme Jigsaw where they will be focussing on celebrating differences and our PE scheme ‘Jasmine’ where they will be practising jumping and balancing skills.
