Term 2

Y4 - Braeside

Week 1

Welcome back! We hope you all had a good break.  It has been a busy first week back.  We have started to read our new book ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ and are excited to find out what happens next.  This term and next, our topic will be ‘What did the Romans ever do for us?’.  We will be finding out about all things Roman.  Please look out for our homework ideas sheet sent out separately via email, this can also be found on our class page of the school website. We hope the children have lots of fun completing a Roman themed project of their own.  In English this term, we will be describing characters and writing a persuasive letter. In maths, we will be continuing with our work on addition and subtraction.

Week 2

What a busy week we have had. We have been completing our learning assessments this week, as well as this we have continued to read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which we are really enjoying. We had our outdoor learning day on Wednesday and despite the weather had a wonderful day. The children demonstrated fantastic resilience throughout the day. We learned about food chains, soils and seeds and had a forest school session. On Thursday, we had our R.E day and learned all about the deeper meanings behind religious festivals. The children really impressed us with their levels of engagement and mindfulness. Well done Year 3 and 4, a super week full of excitement and enjoyment.

Remembrance.

Week 3

It’s been another busy and fun week in Year Three and Four.  On Wednesday the Year 4’s left for Braeside and had an amazing few days filled with adventure! Please check out our website pages for more information on what they have been up to https://www.paxcroft.wilts.sch.uk/day-1-1/ .  Whilst the Year 4’s were at Braeside, the Year 3’s got together to work on a mini topic about Autumn.  They have written some lovely Autumn poems and completed some great Autumn inspired artwork. We have also been talking a lot about how we can ‘Make a Noise’ about bullying as part of Anti-Bullying Week.  We rounded the week of with a pyjama day in aid of Children in Need.

Week 4

We can’t believe it is December! With it officially being the start of winter, some naughty elves have arrived and we have started to get into the festive spirit. We started our new writing unit this week, writing persuasive letters based on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We hope to hone our persuasive writing skills from last term. In Maths, we have started to get stuck into our multiplication and division unit. This unit relies highly on children knowing their times tables, so please ensure your child is practising these at home, as this will greatly support their learning. With the chillier weather, please make sure your child comes into school with a jumper and coat. We hope you all have a lovely weekend getting into the festive spirit!
