Kestrel

Welcome to Kestrel Class. We are a mixed year 5 and 6 class. Our teacher is Miss Dale and our teaching assistants are Mrs Hulbert and Mrs De Bruxelle. In Kestrel class we are ambitious learners and promote independence and responsibility for our learning.

Now that SATs are over and we move into our final term, there will be lots of exciting things to look forward to. Our end-of-year production of Bugsy Malone is already well under way with songs and lines being learned. We are also hugely looking forward to our residential trip to Mill on the Brue at the end of the year.

This term we will be continuing with our topic, 'It's All Greek To Me', focusing on The Ancient Greeks. We have already spent a term exploring this fascinating period of time, and with so many exciting activities lined up we are sure this is going to be another brilliant term.

Last term finished on a high with 'Science Week', culminating in a science fair where the children exhibited their own investigations. Take a look at our class' demonstrations in the photos below.

Part of our spelling scheme involves learning the words from the statutory lists which can be found in the link below. Children will also have a copy of this and some tips for how to learn their spellings in their spelling folder. Children will need this in school with them every Friday.

Please make sure that children are doing plenty of reading at home. If you would like any recommendations for books please use the link below to have a look at the recommended reads.

Using the theme 'water', we have used three famous paintings for our inspiration to create 3D works of art. Take a look at the photos of our finished 'Water Lilies', 'The Great Wave, and 'Bathers at Asnieres' below.
