Term 5

During this term, we will be continuing to explore our topic, 'Our Country, Our World, Our Universe'. We will be deepening our understanding of space and the planets in our solar system. During this topic, we will be discussing key topics such as day and night, seasons, theories about our solar system and so much more!

In English, we will be reading the book 'Holes' by Louis Sacher. The book tells us of a story about a young teenager, Stanley Yelnats who was wrongly convicted of a crime he didn't commit and sent to Camp Green Lake Juvenile Detention Centre.

Week 1

This week, in English we have been examining the structure and language features of non-chronological reports. We have practised writing topic sentences to ensure our paragraphs are better structured. In Maths, Year 5 have been investigating the area and perimeter of a variety of polygons and Year 6 have been investigating angles in polygons and solving missing angle problems. In Science, we have been learning about our solar system and investigating facts about the different planets. We have started reading Holes by Louis Sachar as our guided reading text and it is proving a hit with the children.
