Special Education Needs and Disabilities

Paxcroft is an inclusive school where we believe that all children, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, should be able to achieve their full potential. We ensure that all children have access to a broad and balanced curriculum, personalised according to need, which will enable all learners to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to be able to take the next step in their lives.

Staff at Paxcroft understand the importance of working collaboratively to raise the aspirations and expectations of all children with SEN, and we achieve this by providing a holistic approach including the engagement of parents/carers, our strong multi-agency links and our ability to motivate our pupils to achieve positive attitudes and approaches to learning.

This coupled with high quality teaching, consistency, care and support enables pupils to develop academically, socially and emotionally. We are proud of the achievements and progress that all pupils make.

Parents sometimes ask for information about Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). We've found that the following NHS website offers some useful definitions and advice.

If you would like to discuss any issue regarding your child or special educational needs, please speak to our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator Mrs Kate Lilley, who will be happy to support.

We know that being a parent of a child with a special educational need or disability can be challenging, and would like to sign-post you to some potential avenues of support:

SENDIASS - This is the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information And Support Service. This is a free and impartial service that offers information and advice to parents and young people with SEND.

Wiltshire Parent Carer Council (WPCC) - This is an independent, voluntary organisation which is managed and run by parents to support parents in advocating for fair and equal access to provision for their children with SEND.

Wiltshire Local Offer - This is a website run by Wiltshire Learning Authority that outlines all of the provisions and services run for parents and children with SEND need in the county.
