WB 20.2.23

This week, the children from Swift, Skylark and Housemartin have returned from their break raring to go! The children are excited to have started rehearsing for the upcoming performance of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and we are looking forward to performing for you at the end of the term. In Maths, we have continued our multiplication and division learning and some of us have moved on to a unit on measuring. In Art, the clay sculptures have been painted and finished. We have been writing The Story of Stone Age Boy and have started to read our class text, Stig of the Dump by Clive King. Remember the homework projects are due in the week beginning March 6th. We will inform you soon, of the date on which you can come to view the children’s work.

WB 27.2.23

What an exciting week we have had in year 3/4! We have been doing book week activities throughout the week, which the children have really enjoyed. This has included making new front covers for our class books, making fantastical dream jars, as well as ambitious adjective medicine bottles. We have been developing our story writing skills, whilst becoming more familiar with the Stone Age Boy. In maths, we have been completing assessments. We have also continued to rehearse our production, which is starting to really take shape. If you can, please don’t forget to help your child learn their lines. Look out for our world book day outfits on our class pages.

WB 6.3.23

This week in year 3/4 we have been continuing to work hard on our topic of Invaders. It has been amazing to see all of the homework projects coming in from all three of the classes and we are very impressed by the knowledge and commitment that the children have shown. We have also continuing our English learning and have read even more of our focus book this term, 'Stig of the Dump', we have been looking at an extract from the story and answering questions about it in our Guided Reading. The children have shown evidence of their grammatical knowledge by finding different word types in the text and we have been quite impressed with some of the great work in their books. Great work year 3/4!

WB 13.3.23

Year Three and Four started the week with a fantastic exhibition in the hall, showing off their homework projects.  Thank you to so many of you for coming to see the children’s amazing work. We were so pleased with the quantity and quality of the pieces brought in - well done, everyone!  In English we have been brushing up on our grammar skills, looking at clauses and word classes.  The performance is coming along well and we are looking forward to seeing you all in the audience. Please could we ask the children who have not brought in their costumes as yet, to do so as soon as possible (in a named carrier bag).  Could we also remind you to help your child to practise the quick recall of the times tables? Remember we have Mathletics and TimesTables Rockstars for them to use for practise too (links to these are on the class pages of the website). If you need copies of log ins please see your child’s teacher.

WB 20.3.23

What a fantastically fun week we have had in year 3/4! We have started an instruction writing unit in English. In Maths, we have been finishing up the end of our units. We all thoroughly enjoyed our great outdoor learning day. The children completed a range of activities. We made nests, discussed Spring, played fun prey and predator games, created impressive dens, went on a scavenger hunt and even produced beautiful natural art pieces - take a look on our class pages to see! These were just some of our highlights, but the list goes on! Thankfully, the weather held up for us, which we were very grateful for! We have also been working hard to refine our production and can’t wait to see you next week during either Wednesday’s matinee or Thursday’s evening performance.

WB 27.3.23

This week in year 3/4 we have been super busy rehearsing and performing our play 'Roald Dahl's Jack and the Beanstalk'. We had a great time performing for the first time in front of the whole school for our dress rehearsal on Monday and were well prepared for our performances in front of friends and family on Wednesday and Thursday. We are so proud of what the children have produced and hope that they were proud of themselves and all of their hard work. We wish everyone a very happy Easter break and hope that you all get some very well deserved rest after all of your hard work.
