Falcon

We are delighted to welcome you to Falcon Class page where you can see what we have been up to in the classroom. We are a mixed year 5 and 6 class. We are taught by Mrs Sager and are supported in our learning by Mrs Edwards, Mrs Cook and Mrs Pepler at different times.  We are an enthusiastic and curious class who love learning so take a look at our termly pages to see what we have been up to. Our motto for the year is "Active and Proactive" and we have set ourselves a challenge for the year ahead. We  aim to complete at least a part of the daily mile and will combine the distance covered to see whether we can reach as far as Australia by the end of the year.

During our planning time on a Thursday morning, Falcon  class will be taught by Mrs Edwards

PE

Falcon  Class will have PE on Thursday and Friday and  should bring their PE kit to school on these days to change in to; however, in order to allow flexibility in the timetable, please ensure PE kits are brought in to school everyday. PE kit consists of black joggers/shorts, a plain T shirt in their house colour and their Paxcroft jumper. Paxcroft hoodies are also available to buy for PE and other outdoor activities.

Reading

I hugely appreciate the support you give your child in their learning and wholeheartedly believe that reading is at the heart of your child's learning. Please find below the recommended reading lists for year 5 and 6 or visit our English Curriculum page for advice on how to support your child further in their reading.

Children will be  issued with a green homework diary where they can keep a record of reading or other activities they have done at home.

WB 11.12..23

This week in year 5/6 we have been multiplying and dividing fractions by integers, and starting to solve word problems. In English, we have practised writing the main body and the concluding paragraphs of news reports. We have also planned and written our hot task – a news report about Hermione’s ordeal when the Mountain Troll invades the girls’ bathrooms at Hogwarts. To conclude our work on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, we have designed and started to build a model of a new shop for Diagon Alley. We all thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas lunch and watching the film in the afternoon. This week in year 5/6 we have been multiplying and dividing fractions by integers, and starting to solve word problems.
