Day 1

We've had a fantastic start to our residential at Braeside today! The children have enjoyed settling into Braeside and getting familiar with the site and luckily the weather has stayed mostly dry for us! This morning we played games within our Braeside groups and got to enjoy the fantastic grounds that Braeside has to offer!

This afternoon, we have been taking part in survival activities. The children have had great fun building a shelter using tarpaulin, ropes and as many sticks as they could find! We were very impressed with their team work and creativity when building their shelters. Some even made swings for their back gardens. After this, we learnt how to safely build and light a fire. This included scavenging for the correct size sticks, building the fire and using a flit and steel to ignite their fire. We even enjoyed some tasty marshmallows that they roasted (safely!) on the fire.

This evening, we have enjoyed a very tasty meal in the dining hall (burgers and chips, with some lovely side salad!). The children were very happy with the menu! For pudding, the children loved the seasonal apple crumble with warm custard. Before bed, we spent some time playing some games, reading stories and having hot chocolate. The children then brushed their teeth and headed to bed with their teddies in arms (all very tired indeed!). We hope they all have a good nights sleep!

What a busy but wonderful first day!

As some of you may be aware, Elijah has been raising money for the Bobby Moore charity over the last few weeks. He has been doing kick ups everyday to help raise money and awareness for the amazing charity. He even managed to find time to do it at Braeside!
